Ken Landgraf got his first break in comics when he met Stan Lee outside of the Marvel Offices . After telling Stan that he wanted to draw comics for Marvel Stan told him to go up and show your work to John Romita . This led to Ken meeting Marie Severin, who became a mentor for Ken. Marie gave him photocopies of Gil Kane’s pencil work to study. Ken worked for Howard Nostrand the horror artist as well for Rich Buckler and the Master himself, - Gil Kane. Ken also worked with Neal Adams on his self-published Rock Comics and Star Fighters with Ken doing the pencils and Neal inking and painting in the covers.
Ken attended SVA studying with Harvey Kurtzman and Will Eisner. Ken had served in Viet Nam and went to school under the G I Bill. Ken also got to attend the famous John Buscema comic art classes for free once Buscema became aware that he was a veteran. At DC Superman comics Ken drew Hawk Man … Night Wing and Flamebird as well as countless horror and war stories.
Ken is also the co-creator of the cult favorite comic series the New York City Outlaws.
Ken was the storyboard artist for the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers animated TV show. He was the first artist to draw a solo first appearance of the Wolverine that George Perez would ink. The story written by Jo Duffy called “at the Sign of the Lion “ was first printed in England and featured for the first time the Wolverine Logan in a bar setting and fighting Hercules.
