Roy Schwartz

COSMIC CON NY IS PROUD TO WELCOME NEW CO-PRODUCER ROY SCHWARTZ!

Cosmic Con is thrilled to announce that Roy Schwartz has joined our team as co-producer!

Roy will be helping organize and manage the convention in all aspects, including talent relations, vendor relations, programming and guest experience, con-exclusive comics, communications and marketing, event logistics, and more.

Cosmic Con has been the premier comic book, sci-fi, and fantasy convention in Queens for the past several years. With our expansion and move to the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan, Roy’s wealth of experience and industry relationships will benefit both professionals and attendees, ensuring an even better convention.

Roy served as a consultant and panel moderator at previous Cosmic Cons. He has been a moderator and panelist at San Diego Comic Con, New York Comic Con, Motor City Comic Con, Big Apple Comic Con, and others.

He was the programming consultant and awards committee chair at the 2024 JewCE convention, as well as co-curator of the 2023 ‘JewCE: Jewish Comics Experience’ exhibit at the Center for Jewish History, a Smithsonian affiliate.

Roy is also the co-writer and co-producer of the JewCE documentary, and co-director, co-producer, and host of an upcoming PBS special featuring comics legend Chris Claremont.

As a pop culture historian and critic, Roy is a former regular contributor for CNN. He has written for New York Daily News, IGN, Literary Hub, The Forward, and Philosophy Now, among others.

He is the author of two books, the middle grade fantasy novel ‘The Darkness in Lee's Closet and the Others Waiting There’ and the nonfiction ‘Is Superman Circumcised? The Complete Jewish History of the World's Greatest Hero,’ a bestseller and winner of the 2021 Diagram Prize.

Roy has taught English and writing at CUNY and is a two-time recipient of the writer-in-residence fellowship from the NYPL. He has an interdisciplinary MA in English & Social Thought from NYU.

Cosmic Con NY is held this year on February 15–16 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W 18th St. (btwn. 6th & 7th Aves.), New York.
